But… in my mind couples/lovers/partners in a love filled, lust fueled healthy relationship should be creating their own special red hot passionate event on a regular basis.  Try every month… if not every week, savoring the Valentines that never ends.

These little romantic rendezvous’ or sexcapades don’t have to be elaborate the idea is that they are looked forward to.  Planned.  A special treat to say “thank you” “I so appreciate you” “I want you”…. to that delicious counterpart in your life.  It keeps the fire burning, the desire hot and the love alive.

It’s what can keep a relationship spirited and a lover (including yourself) feeling wanted.  (Plus it’s simply healthy for the mind, body and soul).

So… for those wanting to extend that special giddy feeling beyond Valentine’s, how about:

- Setting aside 1 date per month for the next 3.  These are your sizzling moments just waiting to be filled with your personal sensual self expression.

- Taking turns planning the evening (or day, or weekend!).  This will allow you to both express yourself through the giving as well as the receiving.

- Savoring the buildup.  Sounds obvious, but so many couples don’t set dates (other than vacations) that they look forward to.  Take extra time to get ready (remember your first dates together – that’s the energy I’m talking about!).   Relish the anticipation.

- Teasing each other.  The day of your spicy date get a little dirtier, a little more sensuous or provocative in your flirting.  Send a seductive text message from work, write a naughty email (even if you’re both home… ), express your excitement, your hunger, your passion… and don’t hold back.  Feed the fire; taste that luscious build up.

- Getting adventurous.  Dinner is always nice, but how about diving into your fantasies and pulling out a few new tantalizing treats to explore together (this is a license to get naughty!).  If you’ve talked about role playing, go out and find that fantasy fulfilling costume and surprise them.

Investing this time and passion back into your relationship will not only keep things sparkling, they will revitalize you – how you feel about yourself, look at life and the ability to continuously unfold new sexy experiences, creating  intoxicating new memories.

That wonderful body of imagination that usually overflows and feels as though it may drown me in a wealth of words and concepts has become more of a creek… gently flowing through my mind, every so often brushing my thoughts.

Sounds pleasant?  It’s not.

Even though a few months back you may have heard me cry out “Cirque du Soleil has nothing on the (colorful contortions) of my brain!”… and sigh dramatically wishing my thoughts could have a reprieve from the tidal wave of  my creative ocean, I now find myself parched, craving the rushing of stimulation to overtake my mind.  I miss the adrenaline of creative concepts that used to push the boundaries of my thoughts to new heights and even invade those “down moments” where I was taking time to unwind.

I realized something.  I’m a creative junkie.  I need it. I miss it.  I crave it.

I want to ride the waves of the creative ocean, and this time I’ve carved out a mental surf board to tackle the big ones and emerge glistening with new ideas, grinning from the pure bliss of my mind being expanded.

First, however I must perform a bit of mind magic and transform that creek back into a never ending body of water.  I will:

1) take time to detox my mind from clutter.  Enjoying a reprieve from mind litter:  TVs, magazines, things that only fill space and don’t inspire.

2) spend time reconnecting back into my creative source.  Going for a walk, dancing, drawing… anything that connects me back into myself and allows for creativity to flow inwards.

3) expand my creativity channel.  Meditating on the colors that currently feel creative to me, inhaling them up through my system and into my belly, exhaling out to allow them to expand.  Continuing this process until it feels that the “water of originality” is flowing once again.

4) express freely.  Giving myself permission to just create and flow no matter what comes out purely for the bliss of it.  Breathing creative beauty and passion into each action and not judging the results.

5) thank myself.  Appreciating myself for going through this process, I will respect my creative source and realize that no matter how big that ocean gets, it is a part of me and will never drown me.

If you too find yourself standing on a dried up river bed that used to flow with creative thoughts, try the above and be ready for a wonderful rushing of new inspirations to embrace your system.

Although today is a short stopover in the blog world, I wanted to share with you a video that brought me huge smiles and a load of laughter.  Now… when you watch it, remember: be willing to laugh at yourself!  If you spot a few phrases through out it that you’re very familiar with (due to having said them yourself a number of times…) enjoy it.

We may not be “new age girls”, and not quite “spiritualists”…  we may be a breed of Magick/Spiritual/Life Lovers that are hard to categorize since it’s more of a “way of being” for us… but, I can confess, there are times we sound quite similar to this.

“He lives with his Dad in Canada” I responded… waiting to see if they would repeat the common look of surprise and discomfort that accompanies this reply. Sure enough, there it was. Confusion. Mind Boggled. Not quite sure what to say.

Now I’ve been through this many times and it has become one of the reasons I don’t often share my “family side” with others. They don’t now how to define a woman who has chosen to break the mold of traditional motherhood (having lived and worked in 5 different countries in the last 18 months). It wasn’t until recently working with a number of powerful female clients that I decided to speak out on this. These incredible women were discussing their considerations of being a mother and yet struggling with the concept of putting aside their passions, their professions, their personal dreams. They found themselves feeling guilty at the thought of either a) not having a child at all or b) not fulfilling the traditional stay at home mom role (or the newly accepted version of “part-time worker”).

Wow. Has “Leave it to Beaver” ever infiltrated our society (collective psyche)! Could the picture of mom in her checkered apron, smiling to greet her children at the end of the day (with dinner ready) be this programmed into our beliefs?

So, I pushed them forward into the place of being a mother.
“Lets say you had a daughter, and she grew up to find herself in love with being an artist, or a lawyer or a writer. This powerful female you’ve witnessed turn into a woman is now feeling guilty because she doesn’t want to have a child. She is living her dream and you are thrilled for her! Would you encourage her to put these dreams on the back-burner or give them a part-time position merely to relinquish to her guilt? Or would you tell her to live in whatever way makes her happy, because you simply love witnessing her joy?”

Most women will agree, they want to be the best “role model” for their children. It is a common sentiment among parents that “even though I couldn’t do (fill in the blank) I hope to create a life in which you can”. We want to fuel their joy and what better way to teach them, inspire them then to lead through (your own) example (?) In my view: A great mom, nourishes and loves her children, and a fabulous mom may also be a road warrior. Her passion for what she does in life encourages her children to grow up with the belief that “yes they can follow their dreams…”.

Yet, what society labels as a “great mom” is an archaic concept with little relevance to the spunky girls we are raising to be powerhouse women. When these women who we are encouraging to “live their lives!” “follow their dreams!” “become a leader!”, dare to decide to not have a family, or create a family and not conform to the predictable (nuclear) stereotype, they end up being (sometimes subconsciously) judged by the same voices who have encouraged them to “put themselves first!” (and truly follow their passions). Lest I forget, the accepted double standard that still haunts our “evolved” society, that a man who travels for work (and can even be away for extended periods of time), or is not the primary caregiver is accepted so unquestionably.

Hmm… fascinating isn’t it? I think it is time to break the Mold of Motherhood.
To give permission to each other to carve out a way of mothering that fulfills our life path, nourishes our soul and nurtures our children. We need to create a new archetype of what a mother could be, one that inspires her children to live their dreams, fearlessly. (and non judgmentally.)

As a mother, I care for my son (be it often from afar), he is constantly on mind (my spirit is always embracing his) and I offer the best nurturing I can, but I am also focused on being the best example I can for him. I am hoping that as he grows if he learns one thing from my existence and example in his life that it is to live fearlessly (including breaking molds), that he he lives his dreams (even if it means leaving comfort zones behind to forge new paths), that he achieves a life fulfilled by going after his desires.
If I am to teach him these things, should it not be by living as a true example of them?

I’ve fired my internal “Editor”.  Bid Adieu to my “Political Correctness Checker”.  And told my “Internal Producer” to step aside, my Soul is taking charge.

This body, this mind, this life experience is now under the management of its original owner… my Spirit.

… and damn!  does it feel good….

The funny thing is, the more I live this and allow my entire self to reign, to shine out into the world everywhere I go, the more I am hearing a common sentiment: “I can’t believe you did that” or (and picture this one accompanied by a slightly worried expression…) “haha… you’re not really going to do that … are you?”

I have found incredible peace in embracing my hedonistically spiritual self.

The thing is the worry they are feeling is not real and their fear has no relation to the safety of my self or sanity… it is merely all ego based. Let me rephrase what my (and I sincerely know they are trying to be loving) friends and colleagues are really saying “what will (fill in the blank) think?!”….  “imagine what (fill in the blank) will say?”…

Now before I continue let me explain something very important here… I know many of you are currently nodding your head along with my message.  Feeling what I’m saying and probably cheering it on with a “rock your authenticity girl!” and thank you!  But, there is something important you should be aware of here, when I say I fired my internal editor “I fucking mean it!”.

My friends and colleagues are not just dealing with someone who has decided to be a “good spiritual authentic Chiquita”, willing to demonstrate her spirituality by meditating in public, or perhaps fearlessly discussing past lives in front of others, using terms like “spirit guides” regardless of who’s around.  No… I’m talking about authentically going around spiritually naked in public.  Proudly strutting down a busy street as a sublime Spirit who is high on the human experience and fascinated by the world around.

And this Spirit… is proud of her whole self, that includes her shadow side as much as her light.  She doesn’t withhold her love from sides of her self because some archaic tradition or religion says “that aspect is dark”.  She loves truly her entire being.

Who says Spiritual Can't be Sexy, Fun and Playful?

- I love my sexuality.  I am kinky as hell in the rawest ways. I’ve loved men and women (sometimes at the same time) and I’m proud of it.  My love knows no bounds and sees no gender…. so why should that make others cringe?

- I love to dress up.  My body is a temple and one I love to wrap in whatever my Soul feels like in that moment using my clothing as a fun expression of who I am.  From stiletto heels, short dresses to long skirts and scarves… I dress never to impress but to express.

- I love my recreational supplements.  I have no addictions and truly feel for those haunted by “a need” (I’ve seen it, witnessed the damage and supported others through)   yet authentically I enjoy savoring a glass of red wine.  My Spirit gets excited at the thought of shamanic journeying with the aid of Peyote and I do believe  that “green herbal goodness” should be legalized.

- I love meat.  My body craves it, my tastebuds tingle with it and even though I’ve tried the vegetarian route, after 3 years it didn’t work.  Some spiritual folks will look at me with a slight disdain thinking that a truly enlightened being would be vegan, while I smile back at them and think a truly enlightened being would never judge.

Loving all sides of myself includes embracing my Inner Child.

- I love to dance.   I can dance till 4 in the morning, feeling my energy caress my body to the beat of the drums.  My Spirit shouting “oh yeah!” as it experiences the freedom of this form moving in rhythm to the magic produced by the DJ, celebrating this life experience with all the other Souls in the room lost in bliss.

I love myself, completely every nook, cranny and aspect… and I celebrate this life experience, living as a  Spiritually Hedonist, meaning I live each moment through the senses of the Spirit.

So backing up to my friends and their recent repeating shock at my willingness to expose my truly authentic self… to say what I mean with strength, to demonstrate my truth with pride and to live this life with fierce soul filled love.  I thank them for their care and worry, but I let them know there is no need.

My Spirit is in charge now, and although what I do, what I say, what I express may boggle your mind for a moment, may have your conditioned concepts gasping in concern, or may even insult your religious sentiments… it’s not about you… it’s about me loving myself enough to set my Soul Free.

I would love for you to join me in turning this life experience into a blissed out, self discovering spiritual safari… with no judgements towards your true desires and dreams.  No labeling of shadows and dhemons… but embracing all you are realizing that your spirit IS the child, the sexy diva and the goddess… How about it?

Eyes glazing over at the sight of “New Year’s” in the heading… Mind slightly dizzy from the number of “Top 5 ways to Manifest Your Dreams this Year” articles.

Now for those New Year’s resolution die hards… don’t get agitated…I’m not saying that there isn’t truth in these various “must do’s” and “commandments” to resolution success, but… even I have witnessed individuals flipping through papers, tiredly shaking their heads at anything that resembles another glimpse into a New Year’s list success.

So what am I doing at the laptop, typing a New Year’s note to you?  After pondering the addiction to the New Year’s tradition I began to ask myself what truth it held for me… what I found was something a bit different from the traditional goal boards and affirmations that will haunt your mind for the year to come.

I’m inviting you join me in a different approach… “Give Yourself Permission to Do Whatever in Each Moment is Authentic To You”.

That’s it.

Confused?  Ok, let me explain a bit further. Each New Year we set out a list of what we feel would create a sense of accomplishment in our systems and psyches once the year is up (or the goal met).  And… almost every year, some of these goals drop off, but not always for the reason you believe.  Sometimes these goals become 1) irrelevant 2) frivolous 3) less than what we have realized we deserve & 4) no longer true to the “us” 6 months down the road.

Yet… even with these intelligent reasons for letting go of certain resolutions something within the human mind stops short the feeling of accomplishment and may even encourage you to feel that “you’ve failed”.

By focusing on “permission to ourselves” to be what ever is authentic to us in each moment… we don’t set up specific tasks and to do’s that may not nourish the “you” 6 months from now.  Instead we focus on just flowing within each time/space/experience and feeling a beautiful sense of achievement just by being “true to us”.

So put down that pen, put away the 2012 notebook, sit back and invite your Spirit to take the lead.  Let it guide you into a year in which authenticity radiates from your entire being and life unfolds and fulfills you perfectly in each moment.
